Welcoming Ukrainian refugees to Herefordshire’s Golden Valley

Abbot Paul • April 13, 2022

DORE ABBEY, 23 April, 10-12

A meeting of the Christian communities of the Golden Valley to consider welcoming refugees fleeing the invasion of Ukraine will take place at Dore Abbey (Abbeydore, Hereford HR2 0AA) on Saturday 23 April from 10.00 until midday, preceded by a period of silent prayer at 09:30.

All are welcome. No need to register.

Background:

• This is the second meeting of a group that came together on 2 April at Belmont Abbey to consider whether our communities were being called to come together to offer hospitality to refugees. The overwhelming conclusion was that we were.

• This second meeting will seek to explore practically the means by which we can make this offer, and to consider some of the practical implications involved, following research into the various schemes. There will be presentations, followed by small-group discussions.

• This meeting, like the last, will involve people from local churches (so far Roman Catholic and Church of England) in Hereford, Abbeydore and Ewyas Harold, but is not restricted to these.

• Further information and queries, contact: Gabrielle Stanley, gabriellemarystanley@gmail.com
