Fr Alex Echeandia and Br Miguel represented the Lurin community at the XIII Latin American Monastic Meeting (EMLA) at Salvador do Bahia from November 3 to 10, 2025.

These events are important in a continent where monastic life is spread widely. Benedictine, Cistercian, and Trappist monks and nuns from various countries across the continent took part, fostering a time of communion, sharing, and reflection.

The theme, "Fraternal Communities for a Fraternal World," was accompanied by the motto, "That all may be one, that the world may believe" (John 17:21).

The gathering will be held at the Leaders Training Center of the Archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahia, located in the Itapuã neighborhood of Salvador.

Amongst those present were the Abbot Primate, Jeremias Schroder, photographed above and below with Fr Alex and Br Miguel.

It was wonderful to see so many people at the annual torchlight procession in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We also enjoyed an evening of wonderful magic and music with Fr Dominic and friends... all in a good cause.
