Visit of the Relics of Blessed Carlo Acutis

A Saint-To-Be
The relic of 15 year-old Carlo Acutis a Catholic Italian teenager was brought to Belmont Abbey on 15th February. Carlo was an ordinary teenager with an extraordinary love for God. He excelled at computers and used his skills to build a website on Eucharistic Miracles in the world. Blessed Carlo was born in London 1991 and was baptised at Our Lady of Dolours, Fulham Road.
Carlo died within 10 days of being diagnosed with Leukaemia in October 2006. Blessed Carlo was beatified by Pope Francis on 10th October 2020 and is the first millennial to be declared 'Blessed'. Pope Francis referred to Carlo as a model of holiness in a digital age. He will be canonised by Pope Francis in Rome on 27th April.
Carlo’s motto was: “To always be close to Jesus, that’s my life plan.”
Relics are a tangible way to grow closer to God through the lives of the saints. In venerating the relic we are inviting God to continue to work in us through the prayer and by the example of the saint. We are not worshipping him. Rather, we remember his holiness and ask his intercession for our lives, and invite God to help us grow in our faith through the example and life of the saint whose relic we venerate.
Below are the Livestreams from the day; the Pontifical Mass celebrated by Abbot Brendan; The Talk on Blessed Carlo Acutis by Mgr Anthony Figueiredo & 1st Vespers for the Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time.
