F.A.Q.  Frequently Asked Questions
  • When do the retreats begin and end?

Weekend retreats always follow the same pattern, beginning with vespers at 5.55pm in the Church, followed by supper at 6.50pm. It would end with 1pm lunch on Sunday.

Midweek retreats that run from Monday to Thursday begin with 4.00pm Tea followed by an introductory talk, and ending with 1.00pm lunch on Thursday

Please see separate details for Icon Workshops.

  • Are these silent retreats?

These are not predominantly silent retreats, but we hope our guests find space for quiet. Breakfast is normally taken in silence, but there is conversation at the other meals. For a completely silent retreat why not stay independently, share the monastic liturgy and enjoy the monastery gardens?

  • When and how is final payment made?

Final payment will be indicated on the retreat timetable, normally at the teatime on the penultimate day of the retreat. Payment can be made with cash or by credit/debit card or cheque made payable to 'Belmont Abbey'.
