How to join us on Zoom

  1. Zoom is simply a way of connecting through your computer, tablet or smartphone. It is easy to use.
  2. It if it your first time I suggest you join well before the start time to make sure you are connected. Just click on the Zoom link, and have your password ready.
  3. Depending on the event, the Belmont Website may have the video talks and online material.
  4. If you have not used Zoom before, you may be prompted to download a small app or application. It will guide you through installation, just follow the instructions.
  5. You will be invited to “Join audio by computer.” You can choose whether to connect using video, audio or both, as can anyone else involved in the meeting.
  6. Zoom Security. Sometimes unwanted people can ‘bomb’ a Zoom meeting and this can be unsavoury. It is unlikely to happen, but better to be aware of the possibility. If it does the person will be quickly blocked while we ‘keep calm and carry on.’ Please alert the host if you notice any problems. For this reason Zoom now requires passwords.
  7. When online you will see there is a ‘chat’ function that allows you to ask a question or make a comment. The reactions button can also be used to raise a hand. Any questions will be dealt with at a suitable moment.
  8. Discussions will not be recorded. Sometimes the speaker's talks will be recorded and put online, but not the participants.
