Safeguarding

Belmont Abbey - Safeguarding

The protection and safety of young people and vulnerable adults is of paramount importance to the monastic community of Belmont Abbey. From the very beginning of the implementing of safeguarding policies in the Catholic Church in England and Wales, Belmont has taken this duty very seriously and, with the help of the Catholic Safeguarding Standards Agency ‘CSSA’  and the Archdiocese of Cardiff Safeguarding Commission, we have trained our monks to put all the policies into effect as a matter of priority.

Recently the Conference of Religious of England and Wales published a basic set of guidelines for Religious called Integrity in Ministry. The Belmont Community has adopted the contents of this important publication as its own Safeguarding policy and has implemented them. Each member of the Community has his own copy of the book for personal study and reference.
