With great sadness we report the death of Dom Christopher Jenkins who died suddenly on January 27th 2003. Fr Christopher had been convalescing with the Sisters of St Joseph at Malpas following heart surgery that took place before Christmas, but his death was sudden and unexpected following a brain haemorrhage. Born on 28th February 1932 he was in his 71st year of his age and the 39th of his monastic Profession. For many years he was closely associated with Belmont Abbey School (he was on the lay-staff before he joined the monastery). He was Kemble Housemaster and a teacher of English and History as well as master in Charge of Drama. Fr Christopher took a break from the School to go to Cambridge for 6 years where he served as Catholic Chaplain to the University. He returned to Belmont as Headmaster until the closure of the School in 1994. Most recently he was Chaplain at Keele University and parish priest of Swynnerton in Staffordshire. May he rest in peace. |
