Welcome to the website of the Monastic Formators' Programme. The Programme was set up in 2002 to help Benedictine and Cistercian men and women who are working in the formation and training of those joining the monastic life in our communities throughout the world. The
course is held in Rome where participants have the experience of being
part of an international benedictine family and have the benefit of instruction
from some of the most respected monastic teachers of our time. It is run
in co-operation with the Monastic Institute at Sant Anselmo with the wholehearted
support of the Abbot Primate of the Benedictine Confederation (OSB) and
the Abbot General of the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance
(OCSO). The Programme is open to monks and nuns following the Rule of St Benedict who are either currently working in formation or preparing to do so in the future. The language of the course is English. If you are interested in the Programme please contact the Director Dom Brendan Thomas. The 2008 Programme concluded on 1st June with 25 participants from 13 different countries. The next Programme will be held in 2009 and will run from Friday 13th March (arrivals) to Friday 12th June (departures). A further Programme is planned for 2010. Please contact us if you or a member of your monastic community are interested in joining us. PRINTABLE LEAFLETS: pdf files, open in separate windows: Monastic Formators Programme 2009
